No. ClipSaw reads the video's stream index and fetches only the fragments that cover your chosen start and end time, then cuts them locally - the rest of the video is never downloaded.
By default the cut is fast and keeps the original quality - the saved file may include a couple of seconds before your start point (it snaps to the nearest keyframe), but playback starts at the exact second you picked thanks to an edit list. If you need frame-accurate cuts for editing, turn on Precise cut, which re-encodes the clip.

Yes. Choose MP3 (about 190kbps VBR) or M4A (a direct copy of the original AAC audio track) instead of MP4.

Once the video is loaded and you've set a start and end time, click CC and pick a language (EN, PT, ES, FR, DE, JA, KO, or Auto) to download a real .srt file with only the captions inside that range, retimed to start at 0. It uses the video's manual captions when they exist, otherwise YouTube's auto-generated ones.
Yes. Turn on Burn subtitles into the video and the captions in the language you picked with CC are drawn directly into the picture, so they show up in any player or when you repost the clip - no need for the viewer to turn captions on. This re-encodes the file, so it automatically switches on Precise cut (5 minutes, 1080p max) and only works for MP4. If the video has no captions in that language, ClipSaw will tell you.
